Well. Nathan has fat fingers, and somehow deleted a comment about Abercrombie here that he meant to click on and read. If it was yours, feel free to post again, the deletion was a mistake on my part.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry.
Luckily, I get comments by email :-) Here's what Asebeo said:
ReplyDeleteAre you going to review Abercrombie's first six books before the new trilogy begins? I think it would be helpful. I'd really like to see your views on the women in "Best Served Cold.". You mentioned that the author is attempting to get better dealing with women. He admitted as much on his blog. He didn't think he succeeded in in "Best Served Cold." I personally loved the book the most. In fact all of my favorite characters are in the book. Some have claimed that he merely puts a woman in the lead and gives her all the character traits of a man. She was cold and rational but these are normal traits for an antihero. If this is a problem the only answer seems for Joe to read more female characters made by female authors. He seems to be open to finding ways to get more genuine female characters in his fiction. What do you think?
And here's what you said in your reply (also deleted):
ReplyDeleteI would love to re-read and review the whole series. Perhaps when my Pratchett project is done, though I may get impatient and start sooner; I love all of Abercrombie's books.
Reviews would be interesting on this though,I have been discussing and following discussions about the author for two years now, including those where JA himself chimed in on where he felt there was room for improvement. So in this case my own thoughts have been heavily influenced. I really wish I had been doing this blog when I first read First Law so I could see if/how my opinions have changed much in 4 years.
Thank you. I didn't think it got posted, then tried to go back, then major Snafu. Pauline saves the day! I should turn email comments on myself.
